NewColorsProject is a Nonprofit Organization established to create projects to positively serve underserved communities. We focus on making the maximum positive impact on our communities where our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us affect change. Our purpose is to learn about the needs of our communities, be the voice of our community in the formal arena, and act as a resource by designing projects to serve nationally underrepresented demographic groups.
NewColorsProject is a youth-led organization that amplifies young voices to reach their maximum potential. Our volunteers plant seeds of change nationwide where we learn and turn them into actions.
NewColorsProject was originally launched on May 21st, 2020 by Raymiro Gomez-Galiano with the purpose of highlighting undocumented individuals who positively shaped their communities. On August 19th, 2020, NewColorsProject was formalized and launched by Mr. Gomez-Galiano as a community project that held a virtual English academy named Aprende Inglés. As of November 17th, 2020, the NewColorsProject is recognized as a 501(c)(3).
Coming from a low-income family/background, my education was not always prioritized. I remember being placed in below-basic courses because I would always test low on my standardized tests. My mother would always tell me to read before bed but that would not be enough to help lessen my stutter or improve my grammar. It was not until I reached out to my school’s library for support in academics. Through remedial classes and tutoring opportunities, I was able to grow academically to where I became Valedictorian both in Junior High and High School. I now attend a top-tier university- USC. Through my studies in NGOs and Social Change, I have been able to have a minor in Social Work and Juvenile Justice and Nonprofits, Philanthropy, and Volunteerism. These subjects have allowed me to create a youth-led nonprofit called NewColorsProject with the purpose to learn the need in my community and execute projects in support.

I graduated California State University, Bakersfield with a B.A. in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services. I have plans to go to graduate school for Sociology as well, though, I'm currently pursuing an A.A. in Deaf Studies: American Sign Language. I'm happy to be a NewColors director as the organization is filled with young adults that recognize the needs of their communities best, and are coming up with creative and effective ways to serve said communities. As director of Facilitation and Consultation, I take my responsibility seriously to ensure all voices are brought to the table and respected, all concerns are thoroughly investigated, and that the programs and policies we offer promote safe spaces to grow in.

I'm proud to be a member of New Colors board of directors, because the organization is finding new, innovative ways to give back to our communities. I can fluently speak four languages and my goal is to speak seven! I joined NewColorsProject to fulfill my desire to help the greatest number of people. Little did I know that helping more people would only fuel my desire and broaden my horizons, so I thank NewColors for giving me the opportunity to fulfil a desire— and maybe even achieve a dream.

Hello, my name is Jimena Rascon! I was born and raised in beautiful sunny Phoenix, Arizona. I first began my journey with NewColorsProject as an English tutor for Aprende Inglés. I joined because I wanted to help immigrants, like my parents, in the journey to feeling more comfortable in the country they call home. Whether that ranges from learning a new word to a new phrase to finally no longer needing to rely on subtitles when watching a movie, I hope that now as project manager of Aprende Inglés I can be part of that journey for not just one person but for many.

What's up! My name is Marcha Daniels, and my hometown is Santa Monica, California. Currently, I'm a rising senior attending SOAR High School, planning to major in political science. Growing up as a low-income student of color, I recognized the educational disparities and lack of opportunities for minority youth to thrive in schools. Because of this, I've worked to address these problems through political action, social discourse, and unity. As Project Manager of Stories, I hope to help provide fellow youth the opportunity to engage in current community issues, local or global, and continue the difficult conversations needed for change. Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, and concerns. All power to the people!
